THE HISTORY OF
PIAZZA GHAR IL-LEMBI
Formerly known as Piazza Ghar il-Lembi, the Piazzetta Business Plaza site has a long and varied story to tell. Records indicate that a Sig. Amabile Sammut commissioned the construction of a large private residence in the mid eighteen hundreds. Like many large houses in Sliema, over the years the property was rented out to affluent individuals seeking temporary residence in Sliema. Distinguished personalities such as Sir Victor Houlton (Chief Secretary to the Government) and Col. Boldero (Quarter Master General) having stayed at Piazza Ghar il-Lembi. After the Second World War the property was leased to the Royal Navy and readapted into a Naval Family Clinic.
